Amigos del alma
Hay algo lleno de misterio, y de grandeza, en la amistad que echa raíces en el alma de unos hombres hacia otros, de unas personas con otras.
¿Por qué somos amigos de unos seres humanos con quienes quizá no nos unen ni vínculos de profesión, ni de edad, ni de carácter, ni de pensamiento, ni de intereses económicos, sociales, políticos?
En tantas ocasiones oímos lamentos por la falta de personas en quienes se pueda confiar, con quienes sea posible abrir el alma, ante quienes surja natural el actuar, el hablar sin estar midiendo las palabras más allá de la normal y delicada cortesía entre personas educadas, y manifestarnos así en libertad, sin el mínimo temor a ser juzgados.
Y aumentan las quejas si descubrimos que nadie es capaz de decirnos a la cara algo que él considere un bien para nosotros, y hacerlo con cariño y afecto, por muy fuerte que nos puede parecer lo que nos dice, y por muy mal que podamos reaccionar en un primer momento. Lamentamos, en definitiva, la falta de amigos.
Quizá las relaciones con tantos conocidos no han pasado de un nivel de superficialidad en el que no se da ni comunión vital, ni palpitar de corazones, de empeños, de alegría, de penas. Lo que quizá hemos denominado alguna vez amistad, no ha pasado de ser un nombre más en el vocabulario de cada día, sin particular significado.
Hay una cierta variedad en el ser amigos; al menos en el significado que le damos corrientemente a la palabra. Hay amistades que surgen desde la infancia, en los encuentros escolares y en la calle; hay amistades que van cuajando en las aulas universitarias, en ese intercambio cultural, sentimental, de ideas y de creencias, que se fragua en el convivencia cuando la universidad es algo más que una transmisión de informaciones. Hay amistades que se fundamentan en la comunión de intereses políticos, ideológicos, sociales, artísticos,…
Yo escribo hoy de una amistad que vale la pena; esa relación inefable que hace posible considerar a otro mortal “un amigo del alma”.
Después de decir que “cuando los hombres se aman unos a otros, no es necesaria la justicia”, Aristóteles continúa: “La amistad no sólo es necesaria, sino que, además es bella y honrosa. Alabamos a los que aman a sus amigos, porque el cariño que se dispensa a los amigos nos parece uno de los más nobles sentimientos que nuestro corazón puede abrigar”.
Y, luego, añade: “la amistad es una de las necesidades más apremiantes de la vida; nadie aceptaría estar sin amigos, aun cuando poseyera todos los demás bienes”. Esta es la “amistad del alma”, que hasta el mismo Jesucristo convirtió para siempre en divina, al decir a los apóstoles: “Os llamo amigos, porque todo lo que oí de mi Padre os lo he dado a conocer”.
¿Quién es “un amigo del alma”? Quien puede llamarte en cualquier momento para hacerte partícipe de una alegría o de una pena, sin vergüenza alguna en abrir a nuestra mirada sus heridas. Quien puede recurrir a ti con serenidad, y con la seguridad de saberse acogido, para solicitar un consejo, una sugerencia, transmitirte una angustia o adelantarse para que seas tú quien le haga partícipe de sus temores.
Un “amigo del alma” es un ser humano con quien podemos compartir la soledad, sin agobios, sin complejos, y sin buscar compasiones inútiles. Quien puede pedir un favor sin sentirse humillado, y sin la carga de saberse abatido pensando ya en la urgencia de la devolución. Quien tiene la libertad de decir con franqueza algo que sabe que es para el bien del amigo, aunque el decirlo comporte fatiga, sacrificio, dolor.
El hombre siempre vale más que cualquiera de sus obras y de los acontecimientos humanos en los que se haya visto envuelto. “Quien halla un amigo encuentra un tesoro”, dice la Escritura. En el corazón de un amigo del alma el hombre descubre un tesoro de sabiduría humana, de delicadeza, de piedad, de sencillez, de saber sufrir y soportar el dolor, de alegrías, que le hace llevadero el vivir y gozoso el caminar.

Ernesto Juliá Díaz (Ferrol, 1934). Abogado y ordenado sacerdote en 1962, su labor pastoral le ha llevado a distintos países del mundo: Italia, donde ha residido desde 1956 hasta 1992, Australia, Filipinas, Taiwan, Kenya, Nigeria, Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico, Inglaterra, Francia, Bélgica, Holanda, Portugal, Suiza. Ha escrito en medios de comunicación italianos y españoles. Colaboró semanalmente en ABC durante ocho años. Ha publicado varios coleccionables en “Mundo Cristiano”. Ha participado en congresos y reuniones de espiritualidad, con profesores de la talla de Giovanni Colombo, Ignacio de la Potterie; Hans Urs von Baltasar, Inos Biffi, José Luis Illanes, Eugenio Corecco, etc. Tiene entre otros libros: Un anhelo de vida y El renacer de cada día. Ensayos y relatos breves además de varios libros de espiritualidad: Reflexiones sobre la Navidad, Cuatro encuentros con Cristo, Con Cristo resucitado. Y algunas ediciones de bolsillo como Josemaría Escrivá: vivencias y recuerdos, Conversiones de un santo, Porque casarse en la Iglesia y Letanías de la Virgen. En el año 2008 publicó también, Confesiones de Judas y La Biblia. Una lectura para cada día del año. En Cobel Ediciones ha publicado recientemente "Anotaciones de un converso. Cronica de un re-encuentro con Dios Padre". "El santo de lo ordinario (san Josemaría Escrivá), "La cita del amanecer. Anotaciones de un cristiano ingenuo". "Pararse a pensar no da dolor de cabeza".
